I participated in a holiday photo contest recently and was honored and blessed to have had my photo selected for the grand prize of a brand new Sony RX100 III camera. I wanted to take a moment to share the story behind the shot to illustrate how God can turn something bad into a blessing.
My wife and I live in a condo which is under the control of one of those dreaded and evil home owners associations. This HOA decided that it would be a good idea to renovate all of the buildings which entailed forced everyone to have their windows replaced. Having our windows replaced wasn't a horribly bad thing with the huge exception of how badly it was managed.
To make a long story short I ended up having to utilize sheets as makeshift curtains which led to my inspiration for my winning shot. I awoke early one morning to see the sun shining brightly through our windows resulting in a nice silhouette effect. I then decided to stand outside the window while holding a Christmas ornament. The shot itself was somewhat difficult since I had to set the timer on the camera and then run outside in hopes that I would be in the correct position when the shutter went off. After a few attempts I finally captured a worthy shot to share with the masses.
The contest was held by Sony Alpha Lab and was sponsored by B&H photo and video who provided the camera. If you own a Sony camera or are interested in owning a Sony camera I highly recommend checking out the site and forums for Sony Alpha Lab.
